Overview

White-throated Piping Guan (Pipile grayi) is a species of Chachalacas, Curassows, Guans (Cracidae) in the order Gamebirds (Chickens, Pheasants and Grouse).

Distribution

Breeding range: South America.

Conservation Status

This taxon is listed as Extant (living) in the IOC World Bird List.

Remarks

White-throated Piping Guan Pipile grayi is split from Blue-throated Piping Guan P. cumanensis on the basis of differences in plumage, the color and shape of the wattle, and limited hybridization in zones of contact in se Peru (del Hoyo & Collar 2014; HBW/BirdLife. See Vaurie 1967).
