This taxon is listed as Extant (living) in the IOC World Bird List.
Remarks
Retaining Olive-backed Woodpecker in Dinopium to the exclusion of Gecinulus renders Dinopium paraphyletic (Shakya et al. 2017). Sister to Gecinulus; move to that genus (contra Kirwan & Collar 2020; Dickinson et al. 2022 who place it in a monotypic genus Chloropicoides Malherbe, 1849). Note gender ending for subspecies.
