Remarks
African Reed Warbler Acrocephalus baeticatus (including ambiguus, minor, cinnamomeus, suahelicus, and hallae) is lumped with Eurasian Reed Warbler A. scirpaceus as Common Reed Warbler based on similarities in morphology (other than wing structure in the non-migratory, Sub-Saharan African populations), vocalizations, habitat choice, and relatively recent genetic divergence (Dowsett-Lemaire & Dowsett 1987; Olsson et al. 2016; HBW/BirdLife). Change English name of A. scirpaceus from Eurasian Reed Warbler to Common Reed Warbler with the merger of the two species.
