Reassign Yellow-breasted Crake from Porzana to Laterallus (Stervander et al. 2019). Placed in Hapalocrex by NACC (2016-B-4) but if so, then non-monophyletic with respect to other Laterallus. Its position as a basal member of the L. melanophaius clade within Laterallus is confirmed based on multilocus (mtDNA + nucDNA) phylogenetic analyses (Depino et al. 2023).
