Remarks
M. roraimae is split from M. guatemalae (Holt et al. 1999; König et al.1999; cf. SACC 12; H&M 4). The form from the northern ranges of Venezuela is attributable to the taxon pallidus (Hekstra, 1982; Krabbe 2017), perhaps a separate species (Dantas et al. 2016). Change English name of M. roraimae from Roraiman Screech Owl to Foothill Screech Owl with inclusion of napensis (Krabbe 2017; SACC 771).
