Remarks
The taxonomic status of White-tailed Tityra T. leucura has been uncertain (Whittaker 2008; SACC 634). The unique type specimen, a subadult, had sometimes been regarded as a possible variant of Tityra inquisitor. However, there is now increasing evidence that it is a valid species based on a field observation in 2006 (Whittaker 2008) and photographs of an adult in the forest canopy that were published on-line (Agami Nature Tours 2023). Generic assignment may need revision. Treatment as a valid species aligns with Dickinson & Christidis (2014); del Hoyo & Collar (2016), HBW/BirdLife and SACC 1035.
