Overview

Little Shrikethrush (Colluricincla megarhyncha) is a species of Whistlers & Allies (Pachycephalidae) in the order Perching Birds (Passerines).

Scientific Classification

Genus: Colluricincla; binomial: Colluricincla megarhyncha; authority: (Quoy & Gaimard, 1832).

Distribution

Breeding range: Australasia.

Conservation Status

This taxon is listed as Extant (living) in the IOC World Bird List.

Remarks

Little Shrikethrush complex includes at least 8 separate clades (Deiner et al. 2012; Beehler & Pratt 2016; Marki et al. 2018; Schodde pers. comm.). Rename (9.2) Little Shrikethrush to Arafura Shrikethrush after revision of this species complex. Lump Colluricincla fortis, C. affinis, C. obscura, C. tappenbecki, C. discolor and C. rufogaster into C. megarhyncha, following AviList v2025. Restore the revised Colluricincla megarhyncha complex with the English name Little Shrikethrush.
