Remarks

Reconfirmation as a full species, distinct from Cacomantis variolosus based on voice and phenotype, is supported by Wu et al. (2022). Species name of Moluccan Cuckoo changes from heinrichi to aeruginosus with the transfer of ssp. aeruginosus to this species from C. sepulcralis. C. aeruginosus Salvadori, 1878 has priority over C. heinrichi Stresemann, 1931. Change English name from Moluccan Cuckoo to Moluccan Brush Cuckoo to emphasize its group membership and minimize confusion with other cuckoos.
