Split (10.1) of Amazonian subspecies verreauxii and klagesi from the broadly allopatric e Brazilian chalybeus based on different morphology, especially crest length, and vocal differences (del Hoyo & Collar 2014; Donegan et al. 2015; del Hoyo et al. 2019; SACC 833).
