Overview

The Vangas & Allies are a family of birds (Latin: Vangidae) within the order Perching Birds (Passerines). Worldwide the family includes about 21 genera and 40 species. Its members are primarily distributed across Africa, the Oriental Region. Notable genera include Prionops, Newtonia, Tephrodornis. Passeriformes, the perching birds or songbirds, are by far the largest bird order, with 144 families and about 6,758 species, roughly half of all living birds.
